Facilities
The IWU School of Nursing is housed in the Ott Hall of Sciences and Nursing on the residential campus in Marion, Indiana, and also offers nursing programs at our Education Centers in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, as well as online.
The Pre-licensure Fortune Simulation Lab features stellar, cutting-edge, state-of-the-art facilities. The lab is a "safe" place for students to practice their skills and critical thinking. Students in every clinical specialty (medical/surgical, maternal/child, leadership, mental health and critical care) spend time in the lab. Video capabilities permit students to review clinical actions and reasoning. Lab faculty, who are professional nurses, model professional skills and socialize students into the art and science of nursing.

4 SimMan High-Fidelity Patient Simulators
The SimMan is an advanced patient simulator with realistic anatomy and clinical functionality. The SimMan provides simulation-based education to challenge and test students' clinical and decision-making skills during realistic patient care scenarios.
Some of the features include:
- Vital signs, including blood pressure
- Heart sounds and rhythms
- Vocal sounds such as coughing, moaning, and talking
- Extremities with pulse points for palpation
- Breath sounds and bowel sounds
- Scenario programming
1 Birthing Simulator
Victoria is a state-of-the-art birthing simulator which allows students to navigate through general nursing care of a pregnant patient, as wells as pregnancy complications and high-risk deliveries.
Some of the features include:
- Interactive Eyes
- Leopold’s Maneuvers
- Shoulder Dystocia, Breech, and C-Section Deliveries
- Birthing of a full-term, active baby with programable heart and respiratory sounds as well as movement, cyanosis, and crying
- Software to monitor both mother and baby
5 Newborn Infant Simulators (1 Preemie, 4 Full-term)
Infant simulators help students learn to provide normal care for newborns and infants, as well as recognize and intervene for abnormal findings.
Some of the features include:
- Crying
- Palpable pulses: Fontanelle, Brachial, Umbilicus, Femoral
- Supports IV insertion
- Normal and abnormal heart and lung sounds
- CPR feedback in real time
4 Ventriloscopes
Ventriloscopes allow for students to detect normal/abnormal findings on a standardized patient or manikin related to the simulated event. The Ventriloscope can simulate both adult and pediatric heart, lung, and bowels which include but are not limited to:
- Inspiratory/expiratory stridor
- Mitral Stenosis

4 Med Dispense Systems
The Med Dispense Systems help students to realistically prepare for medication administration in a professional setting. Medication administration is a high-risk intervention that requires knowledge, skill, and critical thinking.
