Indiana Wesleyan University will graduate over 1,000 students, notably including a record amount of IWU doctoral degrees, on Saturday, Aug. 14, in two ceremonies in the Chapel Auditorium on the main Marion campus, 611 E. University Boulevard, Marion, IN.
The schedule for the commencement is as follows:
- 10 a.m. | All IWU-Marion undergraduate degrees and IWU-National & Global associate and bachelor level degrees
- 2 p.m. | All IWU-Marion graduate degrees, Wesley Seminary master’s and doctoral degrees, and IWU-National & Global graduate and doctoral degrees
The commencement speaker is Dr. Olivia Lusher, a native of Northeast Indiana who has dedicated her entire career to non-profit organizations. Her educational background is in education, holding a bachelor’s, two master’s degrees and a doctor of education in organizational leadership from IWU-National & Global. In every capacity of her career, she values the role that education plays in the wellbeing of a community.
Lusher currently works for the American Red Cross organization. In Sept. 2020 she started her role as the Executive Director of the Northeast and Northwest Ohio Territory. In her work she provides leadership direction for volunteers and employees while also cultivating resources, building resources and being a voice for those in need.
General admission tickets for the graduation ceremonies are not required. However, due to rising COVID-19 cases in our state and region, masks will be required inside all IWU buildings. IWU will arrange for graduates to social distance and ask that guests choose their seats with social distancing in mind.
For those who want to watch online, all ceremonies will be streamed live. The livestream will be available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively, at www.youtube.com/c/IWUnationalglobal.
IWU’s next commencement ceremonies are scheduled for Dec. 18, 2021, and April 30, 2022.
