Indiana Wesleyan University will host its 17th annual Celebration of Scholarship on Thursday, April 11. This campus-wide undergraduate research conference will showcase the scholarly work of more than 150 IWU-Marion students.
This annual tradition highlights the significance of undergraduate research in IWU’s efforts to help students become active stakeholders in their learning. According to Dr. David Riggs, dean of the John Wesley Honors College, “the administration has set aside a day without classes for Celebration of Scholarship in order to affirm the rigorous, creative work that IWU student researchers are pursuing, to inspire students to get involved in primary research and creative projects, and to give the campus community opportunities to learn more about how different academic disciplines help us to make compelling sense of God’s world.”
Oral presentations will begin at 8 a.m. in the Bedford and Leedy Banquet Rooms. Click here for the full schedule. Research posters will be on display throughout the day in the Barnes Student Center Commons.
In addition, the Celebration of Scholarship Luncheon will feature a keynote address from Dr. Natalia Marandiuc, the recipient of the 2018 Aldersgate Prize. Marandiuc is a professor of theology at Southern Methodist University and author of “The Goodness of Home: Human and Divine Love and the Making of the Self” (Oxford University Press, 2018).
IWU’s Celebration of Scholarship is sponsored by John Wesley Honors College.
