IWU-National & Global and Martin University signed a memorandum of understanding offering a 10-percent tuition discount and a private cohort in IWU's Master of Science in Management to Martin University graduates. David Rose, vice president of enrollment and marketing at IWU-National & Global; Eugene White, Ed. D, president of Martin University; and Charlesetta Smith-Staley, Ed. D., vice president of academic affairs at Martin University, signed the memorandum on Tuesday, Nov. 6 in the administration building at Martin University.
According to the terms of the partnership, IWU will offer the tuition discount, contingent upon an enrollment of 15 or more students in the program. All Martin University alumni who have earned a bachelor’s degree from Martin University, Indiana’s only Predominantly Black Institution of higher education, are eligible for the program. Faculty from both universities will teach the MSM courses, which will take place on-site at IWU’s Indianapolis Education Center.
IWU’s MSM program, which requires 36 credit hours to complete, focuses on organizational management knowledge, skills and strategies to help its students ethically lead, plan, organize and control organizations after graduation. “The MSM degree program allows for more flexibility in the courses that the students take,” said Brad Grubb, regional dean at IWU-National & Global. “It has more courses in communications, problem-solving and change management, and truly reflects the changing business climate today.”
This partnership is a good fit for the two universities, which have similar missions concerning diversity and inclusion, according to Grubb, who said this agreement took several years to come together. He credited Smith-Staley and Celesta Bates, an associate professor at Martin University — both of whom who hold doctorates in organizational leadership from IWU — for helping to bring the two universities together.
“We really want the program to align with the diversity growth strategy initiatives at IWU-National & Global,” he said. “In partnering with Martin University to offer this program to its students, we hope to promote diversity and inclusion, not only on our campuses but also in workplaces throughout Indiana.” To learn more about IWU-National & Global’s MSM program, visit: https://www.indwes.edu/adult-graduate/programs/ms-management/.
