Indiana Wesleyan University will welcome back hundreds of alumni and friends on Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6 to celebrate Homecoming 2018. A wide variety of University events for students, alumni and families will take place throughout the weekend on IWU’s residential campus.
The celebration will kick off on Friday at 10 a.m. with a special chapel service recognizing IWU’s 2018 Alumni World Changer, whose name will be revealed at the time of recognition. Following the service will be class reunions of ’53, ’58, ’61, ’62, ’63, ’66, ’67 and ’68; campus tours; a Homecoming Banquet; an alumni art exhibit; the homecoming student dance; and more.
Saturday will host a variety of activities like the first-ever homecoming football game and tailgate; the John Wesley Honors College 20th anniversary pancake brunch; the inaugural IWU Street Fair, featuring student organizations and clubs; a classic car cruise-in; and the Science Exploration Zone providing hands-on science experiments for children.
KidZone, for children 12 and under, will feature an inflatable 4-in-1 Moonwalk Combo, Extreme Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, 40-foot obstacle course and a cotton candy machine. This event is free of charge and will be located on Football Alley (45th Street) on Saturday from 10-3 p.m. In case of rain, KidZone will be relocated to the Intramural Gym in the Recreation and Wellness Center. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The weekend will conclude with a special homecoming concert featuring Grammy-nominated contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. in the Chapel Auditorium. Opening for Daigle will be Infinity’s Song and AHI.
