The Indiana Wesleyan University community will gather at 7 p.m. tonight in Luckey Arena for a Championship Watch Party to support the IWU men’s basketball team that has advanced to the championship round of the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship. The No. 1-seed Wildcats will take No. 2-seed Saint Francis (Ind.). Admission is free.
This is the program’s third time advancing to the national title game in five years. IWU went on to win in 2014 and 2016.
“The only think I can feel right now is joy,” said junior guard Joel Okafor after defeating IU East in the semifinals on Monday night. “It is always fun when you get a big win like this on a big stage with your teammates. We did it as a team and for our seniors. This is what this program is all about. The culture of this program is such a pure joy for me today.”
The NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship began on March 7 and runs through March 13 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
