Indiana Wesleyan University is ringing in the Advent season with its annual Christmas show at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 in the Phillippe Performing Arts Center on the Marion campus. The show will feature several IWU music groups including Chorale, Master’s Praise, His Instrument, and student soloists.
This year’s show is called A Chorale Christmas: Lessons and Carols, a traditional service that commemorates the birth of Christ. Emulating the service observed at the King’s College at Cambridge that started in 1918, this service brings together an evening of hearing classic Christian carols alongside lessons about the carols to create a holistic worship experience.
Songs that will be performed include:
- “Silent Night, Holy Night”
- “Redeeming Love”
- “It’s All About the Cross”
- “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”
- “Ave Maria”
“It is our prayer that audience members will experience the joy of the advent season,” said Dr. Todd Guy, executive director of the University Chorale. “They will leave refreshed, revived and renewed through the interaction with the music that speaks of Christ’s birth and His love that was displayed through sending His only Son to earth as an ‘Infant Holy, and Infant Lowly’ who was born for you!”
The show is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at www.indwes.edu/events/onstage/.
